Our study programs

With over 75 years of academic tradition, the Faculty of Horticulture is dedicated to educating highly qualified specialists in horticulture and related fields. Our core mission is to prepare professionals in horticulture, floriculture and floral art, ornamental arboriculture and landscaping, fruit growing, viticulture, and winemaking—disciplines that play a vital role in sustainable agriculture and green economy.

Our faculty focuses on developing practical and research-driven expertise, enabling graduates to successfully integrate into production sectors, scientific research, education, and other market-oriented professional fields. Academic programs are continuously aligned with labor market needs and emerging industry trends.

Horticulture

The mission of this program is to train specialists in the field of horticulture with specific skills in: fruit growing, viticulture and winemaking, vegetable growing, floriculture and floral art, ornamental arboriculture and landscaping, in order to integrate them into production activities, research, education, as well as in other related fields.

Landscaping

The Landscaping Bachelor’s Degree Program (full-time education, 4 years of study, 240 ECTS credits) was established in 1998 and represents the first academic program in landscape architecture in Romania. Since its foundation, the program has played a pioneering role in shaping professionals capable of responding to contemporary environmental, urban, and social challenges.

This specialization is particularly relevant in the context of rapid urban development, increasing pressure on natural resources, and the gradual decline in the quality of public and green spaces. The program addresses these challenges by preparing students to design, plan, and manage sustainable landscapes that enhance urban and rural environments while improving quality of life.

The curriculum places a strong emphasis on landscape design, integrating key components such as spatial planning, project implementation, landscape construction, maintenance, and long-term landscape management. Students acquire both creative and technical skills through studio-based projects, case studies, fieldwork, and applied training.

Biodiversity conservation management

The purpose of this study program is to promote biodiversity within agriculture and related sectors, in the broader context of environmental protection and food safety. The program addresses current global challenges such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, and the sustainable use of natural resources, with a particular focus on horticultural ecosystems.

Graduates of the program acquire solid theoretical knowledge and practical competencies that enable them to actively contribute to the conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity. The curriculum is designed to develop professional skills aligned with national, European, and international policies in the field of biodiversity conservation and environmental management.

Integrated technologies for the production and valorisation of horticultural products

We offer advanced training for future professionals in integrated horticulture and related fields. This master’s programme focuses on modern production technologies, quality standards, and sustainable valorisation of horticultural products. You will gain in-depth knowledge for product certification and market recognition, while learning how to turn high-quality horticultural products into competitive, value-added goods ready for today’s market.

Ecological horticultural sciences

This programme provides theoretical and practical training in organic horticulture, focusing on sustainable production systems and environmentally responsible management practices. Students gain the skills needed to manage ecological horticultural operations or to develop their own successful business in the organic sector.

Performance technologies - vineyard management and marketing

This programme offers a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in modern vineyard management and wine marketing. Students work closely with industry professionals to address real challenges in viticulture through practical activities and applied discussions.

Urban horticulture

The goal of this programe is to train specialists in a very unique and high potential working field, merging knowledge from different disciplines related to horticulture, landscape, ecology and social sciences. Urban Horticulture tackle the climate change in urban areas through nature-base solutions and ecosystem services by connecting urban blue-green infrastructures in a visionary urban governance. Rethinking urban green spaces the programe is targeting the quality of life within urban areas with public participation and community engagement by highlighting the role of nature in human health and well-being. The interdisciplinarity approach helps to integrate succesful growth of the plants such as ornamental, vegetables, fruit trees, wines in urban ecosystem transforming the urban farming in a social, educational and recreational benefit with environmental justice for sustainable development.

The University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest is IOSUD, and the doctoral studies were reorganized within the Doctoral School for Engineering and Management of Plant and Animal Resources and the Doctoral School of Veterinary Medicine.
