Mission, Strategy, Values

The Faculty of Horticulture is an excellent career choice for young people who aspire to work in dynamic, outdoor environments and engage closely with the plant world. This field offers the opportunity to contribute to food production, environmental sustainability, and the creation of healthy, green spaces that enhance quality of life and support a more sustainable future.

Objectives

  • Formation of highly trained specialists in the field of horticulture through all three levels of university training: bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate
  • Ensuring a high standard of theoretical and practical training of students
  • Development of competences in the field of scientific research in the field, ensuring specialists capable of promoting and applying modern technologies, techniques and methods used in the activity of fundamental and applied scientific research, in laboratories, in research and excellence centers
  • Integration into international research and academic networks and the development of strategic partnerships to intensify cooperation and mobilize expertise to create centers of excellence
  • Strengthening relations between the academic community and the socio-economic environment

Strategies proposed by domains

Didactic activity

  • Diversifying the educational offer by introducing new competitive study programs in English and making the curriculum compatible with similar study programs with international recognition in Europe

  • Regular updating of Education Plans and Study Programs to be improved and harmonized with current and real needs, graduates being thus better prepared to face the challenges and demands of the labor market both in the country and abroad

Scientific research, development and innovation

  • Increasing the number of projects carried out by the faculty by encouraging teaching staff and doctoral students to participate in as many national and international project competitions as possible, as well as attracting private funds from the economic environment

  • Attracting students to scientific research activities and their participation in relevant scientific events and symposia in the country and abroad

Material base

  • Introducing in current research the use of modern sensors and technologies for monitoring biological and production factors, respectively the tools necessary for precision agriculture

  • Creation of model plantations within the didactic fields and research stations of the university with the role of extension and promotion of new technologies and varieties among farmers and all those interested in horticulture

Human resource

  • Staged increase in the degree of occupation of positions by hiring young people on clearly defined performance criteria

  • Conditions for career development and promotion will be ensured for all teachers. We encourage and support all teachers who want to qualify

Cooperation, internationalization, prestige and visibility

  • Integration into European academic and research networks and the association of the teaching staff with prestigious international organizations (ISHS, IFLA, wine and winemaking profile organizations, etc.)

  • Encouraging the participation of students and teachers in Erasmus+ international mobility programs

Financial management

  • Increasing revenue from budget allocations and fees by enrolling more students in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in both full-time and ID forms

  • Effective use of heritage and attracting funds from the rental of spaces for the organization of events
